Boxer Dog Origin
The Boxer dog breed originates from Germany and finds its early ancestor to be a mastiff type dog, the large Molossian Hound. Later, this dog evolved into what was called the Bullenbeisser. The Bullenbeiszer’s roots go back to Belgium and these ancestors were known as great hunting and working dogs.

The Anatolian Shepherd Dog, also referred to as the Anatolian Karabash, is a large dog breed that originated in Turkey. They were bred to guard sheep herds on the Anatolian plateau in Turkey. This breed can grow up to 30 inches tall and can weigh up to 150 pounds when fully grown. They have a double fur coat. Their undercoat is thick and dense and their overcoat is short. The most desirable coat colors for this breed include cream and fawn with black face masks. However, this breed can come in just about any color combination.

The Akita, or Akita Inu, dog breed originates from the mountainous northern region of Japan, in an area called the Akita Prefecture. A favorite breed of the Japanese people the dog is valued there as a national treasure and statues of the dog are common throughout the country. The Akita dog origin and history is complex but stems from similar northern breed dogs of the Spitz group and shares its origins with a breed many centuries old.

As a dog trainer, I have always wanted to put together a dog breed list for those wanting to choose a dog breed for their particular situation.
I believe that there are certain characteristics in choosing a dog breed that would make a particular dog breed right or wrong for a given family. So many times a family will pick a dog based on its looks only. Nothing could be worse for the dog or the family.

Where did the Affenpinscher breed originate?
The Affenpinscher dog breed, also commonly referred to as the Monkey Dog, is a small breed dog that originates from Germany. This breed makes for a great house pet. It typically grows to be only about 10 inches tall and usually weighs between 7 and 8 pounds. This breed comes in a variety of coat colors including black, gray, red, black and tan, silver and beige. If cared for properly this breed can live up to 15 years.

The hound dog is known to be quite the useful companion for hunters. Hound dogs have the ability to track and chase down the targeted animal. The breed uses their sight and smell to find their prey. This differs slightly from gun dogs and retrievers, both of which are also used in hunting. The gun dog directs hunters to the location of potential prey while the retriever recovers quarry that has been shot and left for dead. As the name suggests the Siberian Husky is native to Siberia. It was there that they were trained for hundreds of years to pull sleds by the Chukchi people. The Chukchi were a semi-nomadic tribe that used the Siberian Huskies to pull sleds with light loads for long distances, which made them an excellent companion for the tribe. DNA testing has recently found that the Siberian Husky is one of the oldest breeds of dogs.

Because of China’s zoophobia, the Western World would never have heard about Shar Peis if not for the diligent efforts of Hong Kong businessman Matgo Law. Shar Peis became victims of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Along with many other Chinese traditions and art forms, Shar Peis were outlawed and mostly destroyed. Matgo Law managed to rescue some and get them spirited away to Western countries. He started exporting Shar Peis in 1973. By the 1980’s, there was a craze for Shar Peis, which led to much indiscriminate breeding.
